Artist Bio
Alana Evans is a graduate from Emily Carr University of Art and Design with a BFA in Visual Arts. Evans's passion for art and creative expression started as a child growing up in the Okanagan Valley of BC and is currently a Langley BC resident.
Alana draws her inspiration from her interest in the Western Canadian Landscape, traveling through out BC and beyond, and is intrigued in both environmental climate and manmade events. Her passion for travelling intersects her creative work by talking about the landscape and its constant evolution. She is interested in depth and texture with the layers of oil medium work, the canvas becomes as rich and complex as she is. Her painting style can be described as warm with dark and moody undertones- leaving the viewer with the impression of her passion for the subject as well as the medium.
Evans also incorporates that same interest in her body of Encaustic mixed media work, developing a series of birds-eye views of the landscape in both summer and winter months. Utilizing mixed media materials, photo transfer, oil paint and oil bar the aerial journeys across the terrain emerge.
Alana's dedication to the arts community continues with an active role as an elected board member of the Langley Fine Arts Council in the Greater Vancouver region. Evans's work has been in gallery shows throughout the Lower Mainland and her work is held in private collections in Canada and the United States.
