Alana Evans

A Western Canadian Artist, Alana Evans is influenced by the rugged and diverse Canadian landscape. She is enthralled with the oil paint medium and the depth that building layers with glazing and blending techniques on the canvas brings. Her often large scale pieces allow the viewer to experience the sensation of scale of the vista and her works often embody movement through out the piece. She is compelled  to explore  contemporary vistas and the effects of human interaction/interference on the landscape or  dramatic weather events in a impressionistic way. The drama of lighting created from a storm coming in with the sun setting, or the light streaming thru the trees bordering the clear-cut of the forest call to her to put brush to canvas to capture that fleeting moment.
